Cruise past famous sights and landmarks of Englands best known river.

To the west of London the River Thames snakes its way past a long list of attractions. The mature and meandering river flows past Windsor Castle and the surrounding royal park and the famous Eton College close by. Ascot racecourse and Cliveden House, one of England's most famous country residences, are within easy reach of the river also. The family attractions of Legoland and Thorpe Park, and the undoubted splendours of Hampton Court Palace and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew are amongst other welcome diversions close to the river.

Further away from London and towards Oxford the Thames passes by some beautiful small towns and villages. Marlow, Cookham, Pangbourne and Henley-on-Thames are all excellent stop-offs where characterful waterside pubs, antique shops and tea shops all beckon you with their wares. You may wish to strike out on a bike through the lush, wooded countryside to visit small villages clustered around a village green - so typical of this area in the heart of England.

If you continue westwards you'll eventually catch sight of the 'dreaming spires' of Oxford - a reference to the harmonious architecture of the city's many and famous University buildings. A stroll around Oxford is an undoubted pleasure. Home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world, Oxford is a green city with huge cultural riches. The Ashmolean Museum has an astonishing collection of art, antiquities and exhibits from all eras.

Our two bases at Chertsey and Benson are ideally positioned for cruising the Thames. Return cruises from the bases focus on the eastern or western sections of the Thames, but you can also select one-way cruises between the bases or short return breaks of 3,4 or 5 days from either base. The base at Chertsey is just 10 miles from Heathrow Airport and 33 miles from Gatwick, making this region supremely accessible to those arriving from outside the UK.
